Smart Checklist is moving to Forge! |
Smart Checklist is transitioning from Connect to https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/confluence/forge/ to align with Atlassian’s latest app development platform. This change enhances security, performance, and compliance but introduces some necessary adjustments for users.
The Smart Checklist with Forge technology is being gradually rolled out and will eventually be available to all users.
If you're using the Connect version of our add-on, you'll receive a notification from our team once the new version is available. You can update it manually by navigating to Apps → Manage Apps.
Please note that if no action is taken, the Smart Checklist add-on will automatically update 96 hours after the notification. We recommend reviewing this article within this timeframe to ensure a smooth transition.
👤 Custom Permissions: Custom permissions should be reconfigured within permission schemas.
Smart Checklist Permissions settings will be migrated without changes.
Project-level permissions will be reset post-migration. They must be manually reconfigured.
💡HINT: To simplify reconfiguration, we recommend taking a screenshot of your current project permissions setup before migration. This will serve as a reference when manually resetting permissions afterward. For detailed steps on configuring project permissions, refer to Permissions & Access |

What Else You Need to Know
Uninstalling the Forge app will delete all checklist data.
Two new custom fields (Checklists and Smart Checklist Progress) will be added if not already present—these are required for the app to function.
Smart Checklist header will always be visible in JSM tickets on customer portal (pending Atlassian fix FRGE-1661).
Link rendering will be simplified.

Once the migration starts, Jira users and site admins will see overlay messages for Smart Checklist UI, indicating the migration from Connect to Forge. Since the migration can take time, users will have clear progress indicators and instructions on what to do next.
Navigate to Apps → Manage your apps → Smart Checklist in the left column.
The migration progress is displayed in an overlay message, starting with the initialization of the app.
The migration consists of five automated steps, processed sequentially:

2️⃣ Global Templates
3️⃣ Project Templates
4️⃣ Checklists
5️⃣ Checklist History
The overlay stays till the end of migration. It can be closed by clicking “Acknowledge”, and migration results can still be viewed on the Global Settings tab.

Acknowledge button to close the overlay message and unblock work with the checklist.
✅ Successful Completion: All steps are marked with a green checkmark, and the overlay closes automatically, unblocking Smart Checklist usage.
⚠️ Warnings (Templates/Checklists/History): A detailed log is available for download. Click "Acknowledge" to proceed and contact support if needed.

Users will see an overlay in the following areas:
Issue View (Right/Central Panels)
Smart Checklist Project Settings
Assigned Items Page
Smart Checklist History Tab
Issues will be unblocked individually as migration progresses (unless errors/warnings occur).
Newly created issues remain fully functional during migration.
