Linked Templates feature

Linked Templates are advanced Smart Checklist templates that stay connected to issues where they were imported. If a linked template is changed, the changes will be immediately reflected in all issues where the template was imported. Also, the end users cannot edit the checklist items of the linked template in the Jira issues, they can only update the status.

Main features:

• Immutability: Users can't make changes to the imported Linked Templates, other than changing the status of items.

• Synchronized updates: Admins can update the original template. The changes will be automatically reflected across all Jira issues where checklists were imported.

All of the actions you can do with Global/Project templates, like create, import, convert, edit, duplicate, delete, etc., are also available for Linked Templates.

The checklist items that were imported from the Linked Templates will be displayed separately under your main checklist in Issue View.

There are new actions that are available for operations with Linked Templates:

• convert any template to Linked/Non-Linked

• unlink the template and keep/remove the items

• delete the template and keep/remove the items

• view of all the issues that are linked to the template

• edit Linked Template. This option is only available from Checklist UI in the template list

Introducing Checklist UI to edit Templates

From now on, there are 2 available ways to edit templates in the list from Project Settings or Issue view:

• Checklist UI - where you edit the template in the same way as you would edit the checklist items on the Issue View;

• Markdown editor - where you edit the template from the Editor, similar to editing checklist items from the Full-screen editor.

Please choose and use the one that is more suitable for you.
