Template categories

We are introducing UI/UX changes to better group the templates and easily find them on the Issue view or in the Global Settings.

Global Settings improvements:

New Categories tab to manage template categories
Category field is now available when creating or editing a template
You can select, add, or leave the category empty
Use the search bar on the Templates tab to filter templates by category

Issue view improvements:

Assign templates to a category when creating a new template
Assign a category when saving a checklist as a template
Edit existing project templates to assign them to a new or existing category
Templates are now grouped by category, with a label showing the number of templates in each group

Create Project templates from the Issue view

Starting from v7.6.0, Create template button is available in the Template modal on the issue view. Available for users with “Administer Projects” (Jira Standard permissions) or “Manage Smart Templates” (Smart Checklist Custom permissions). Easily create project linked/non-linked templates directly from an issue.

Template modal on Issue view

Template modal view is changed starting from v7.6.0. Here is the list of the major updates you will see:

No more pagination — all templates are now displayed in a single scrollable list.
Templates are sorted by ID.
“Delete” and “Convert to linked/non-linked” actions are moved to 3-dots menu.
Create template button is available for creating only project linked/non-linked templates.
Category field is available for every template in the Project templates list.

Fill description in the Create issue dialog with information from the checklist item details for Convert to Jira Issue or Sub-task functionality

When converting a checklist item to a Jira issue or sub-task, the Create issue dialog will now automatically populate the Description field using the item’s details (if available).

This makes issue creation faster and ensures important context isn't lost in the transition.
