If your checklist item is worth a separate Jira Issue, have this arranged in a few clicks using the Smart Checklist functionality 🚀

If you use Jira permissions: grant users Edit issues (for Company-managed projects) and
Member or Administrator permission (for Team-managed projects) to convert checklist item to Jira issue

If you use Smart Checklist permissions: grant users Manage Smart Checklist Items permission to convert checklist item to Jira issue

Convert checklist item to Jira issue:

  1. Press 3 dots on the right from the item status and select “Convert to Jira issue”:

2. Create Issue screen will pop up. Add the necessary details:

status:new If you convert the checklist item to the Jira issue, Smart Checklist will pre-fill some fields for you:

  • Description - will copy text from checklist item details (if you have them)

  • Components - will copy components from the source issue (if it has ones)

  • Issue - will be linked with the source issue key

  • LinkToEpic - will be linked to the epic if you convert the checklist item from the epic

3. After you hit “Create“, a link to the newly created issue will be added to your checklist item with the 'done' state applied:
