Global Templates
Easily share your Templates across multiple projects, ensuring consistency and efficiency in your workflows with the new Global Templates feature! π
Overview
Global Templates enable you to share issue templates across multiple Jira projects, ensuring consistency and reducing duplication of effort.
You can now share templates:
With specific individual projects
With all projects (including newly created ones)
With projects grouped by Project Categories (including newly added to the category)
Sharing via project categories makes it easier to manage access at scale without selecting projects one by one.
Steps to Share a Template
Open the template for editing.
Go to the Projects tab to manage sharing options.
In the Share between projects field, select:
All projects (including newly created)
Or one or more Project Categories
Specific projects new
βπΌNOTE: When using Global Templates across team-managed projects, make sure that the issue type names are identical in all shared projects.
Click Save Template to apply your sharing options.
Thatβs it! π Now you can access the template from the shared projects.
βπΌNOTE: Global templates only share the configurations from the Issues and Variables tabs. History, Scheduler, and Automation settings are specific to each project.
Is there anything missing that would help you share your templates between projects more efficiently? Weβd love to hear your thoughts! π£
